Classified Grant Scholarship Application 2026-2027 - New Applicants

The SCCOE Educator Preparation Programs' Classified School Employee to Teacher Credentialing Grant Program (Classified Grant) offers you $4,000 per year while available, to complete a bachelor’s degree and/or a preliminary teaching credential in one of the following areas: Special Education, PK-3, Multiple Subject or Single Subject at one of our partner institutions of higher education (IHE) listed on the program's main website page. This opportunity only applies to individuals completing their first preliminary teaching credential. Satisfactory progress must be demonstrated each year.

Application Process

• Candidate reviews all mandatory requirements and prepares the required documents listed below.
• Candidate completes and submits application.
• Application is reviewed in 1 - 4 weeks.
• Applicants are notified of application status and next steps via email.

Required Documents

1. Verification of Employment as a current or former classified employee in an approved CA county (see program's main page for eligibility) who has passed a criminal background check. This is a letter from the Human Resources Department on letterhead.
2. Verification of Current Enrollment in a partner institution of higher education for Bachelor's Degree completion or Preliminary Teaching Credentialing. This is a letter from the IHE Registrar on letterhead. IHE partners are restricted to those listed on the program's main website page.
3. Commitment Agreement Letter (signed and dated)
4. Completion Plan — Fillable Google Doc or Downloadable PDF
5. Signed W-9 Form (page 1 only; signed and dated)
