The Educator Preparation Programs' Classified School Employee to Teacher Credentialing Grant Program offers you $4,000 per year until funds run out, to complete a preliminary teaching credential. Funds may be used to complete a Bachelor’s degree and/or preliminary teaching credential in one of the following areas: Special Education, PK-3, Multiple Subjects, or Single subject (Math or Science) at one of our partner institutions of higher education (IHE) listed on the program's main website page.

Application Process

  • Candidate reviews all mandatory requirements and prepares the required documents listed below.
  • Candidate completes and submits application.
  • Application is reviewed in 1 - 4 weeks.
  • Applicants are notified of application status and next steps via email.

Required Documents

  1. Verification of employment as a current or former classified employee of a Santa Clara or Alameda County School District who has passed a criminal background check. This is a letter from the Human Resources Department on letterhead.
  2. Verification of current enrollment in a partner institution of higher education (partners are restricted to SCCOE/EPP/EPIC; National University; Reach University; San Jose State University; Santa Clara University; and Teachers College of San Joaquin) for degree completion and credentialing. This is a letter from the Registrar of the IHE on letterhead.
  3. Signed Commitment Agreement Letter (signed by hand)
  4. Completed Completion Plan
  5. Signed W-9 Form (page 1 only; signed by hand)

Important!
Each document must be uploaded separately in PDF format. Applications with missing documents will not be approved. W-9 Form and Commitment Agreement Letter must be signed “by hand.”
