Course Description

This course is designed to provide the candidates with a broad understanding of the transition process across the life span of the student. It will enable the candidates to be able to assess the individual transition needs of a student from elementary through postsecondary for the purposes of writing IEP’s and/or ITP’s. A variety of transition experiences, ranging from changing grades and schools to inclusion and postsecondary planning, will be covered. Candidates will learn how to work effectively with other educational and community agencies as well as how to include the family of the student in the transition process. Legal and timeline requirements will also be covered.
