Welcome to the SCCOE Application Portal for the Teacher Residency Program!

The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) Teacher Residency Program, in partnership with Teacher’s College of San Joaquin (TCSJ), is committed to developing diverse, inclusive, and effective educators committed to serving in our local community. This intensive program is an opportunity to earn a Preliminary Teaching Credential in one year. Residents are matched with an expert mentor teacher, and spend at least three full days per week teaching and co-planning with guidance from their mentor. Residents also take coursework online two evenings per week and engage in ongoing California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC) assessments during the year. Teacher Residents receive a $25,000 stipend over the course of the residency year in exchange for a commitment to four years of teaching service in Santa Clara County.

Application Process for the July 2025 Cohort

The Residency Program has a two-part application process in partnership with Teacher’s College of San Joaquin (TCSJ). Acceptance from both SCCOE and TCSJ are required in order to enroll in the Residency Program. This is the portal for the SCCOE application only.

  • SCCOE's application has a priority deadline of January 31, 2025, and a final deadline of March 15, 2025.
    • SCCOE reviews applications after both deadlines. Qualified candidates will be contacted for interviews.
    • Applicants do not need a complete TCSJ application in order to have their SCCOE application reviewed.
  • TCSJ's applications close on April 15, 2025 and are reviewed in partnership with SCCOE after the April 15, 2025 application close date.

While only candidates with acceptance from both SCCOE and TCSJ will be enrolled in the Teacher Residency Program, SCCOE can begin reviewing and accepting applications even if their TCSJ application is incomplete or is pending results.
