EPP's Clear Induction Credential Program is designed to provide an option for teachers to clear their preliminary credentials through a CTC accredited program. The clear induction program provides a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning that can begin in the teacher’s first year of teaching. Candidates must have a preliminary credential in order to be eligible to apply for the Induction program. The candidate is matched with a mentor(s) according to credentials held, grade level and/or subject area, as appropriate to the participating teacher’s employment within 30 days of admission into the program. The Clear Induction Program is based on an Inquiry Cycle of Plan, Teach, Reflect, Apply. The Inquiry Cycle will be practical and intended to address a specific problem in a classroom, school or community. It is a cyclical not linear process. It is focused on the “how to” approach to solving a problem. Within this cycle is:
• Inquiry into Teaching and Learning
• Data Collection: Assessment of Teaching and Learning
• Data Collection: What is my Context?
In the two year program there is a portfolio which covers all of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) and is comprised of the elements of the Inquiry Cycle and the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) (Developed within the first 60 days). Evidence is uploaded via an online tools managed by the participating teacher and their coach. The Clear Induction candidate has, on average, 1 hr of regular weekly contact with their coach. There are 2 two-hour Online Forums during which clear candidates will present their Inquiry Cycles and their ILP goals to each other as part of their collaborative community of practice.
